Kanpur : The first test match between India and New Zealand is a historic one. It is the 500th test match played by team India. BCCI will facilitate many former cricketers on this occasion. One worry that is keeping the BCCI stressed is whether enough people will visit the stadium.
Crowd for test matches has been very low nowadays and BCCI has been trying out new policies to bring in more people. In a recently held meeting held at the Mumbai HQs, BCCI decided to provide free gutkha pouches with the ticket in Kanpur to pull in more people.
This initiative has gone down well with the people and people are standing in long queues for the ticket counters to open. People are taking their full family to the stadium so that they can get more gutkha pouches. There is also a rumor doing the rounds that people are taking the tickets and then going away rather than staying at the ground and watching the match.
The decision has come as a boon for the gutkha starved public, as laying hands on gutkha pouches was tough after the ban. People want BCCI to implement this strategy in other places like Ranchi, Indore and Rajkot also.
Well, full marks to the BCCI to come up with such an innovative concept!
