After trying to censor Anurag Kashyap’s Udta Punjab, only to be rebutted by Bombay High Court later, another fresh brawl has started between the duo. Nihalani has now objected to Anurag’s upcoming movie ‘Haramkhor’, saying that the selection of actors have been inappropriate according to Indian traditions and Sanskars.
Speaking exclusively to Teekhi Mirchi, Nihalani said, “In Indian culture, it’s always Bada Bhai who gets the first shot. I’m way older than most of the actors and have proved my Haramkhori by producing B-grade movies and double-meaning songs. Moreover, my persistent efforts to censor, and then leak Udta Punjab is yet another example of my ‘Haramkhori credentials’. Hence I should have been in the lead role”
Sources say Anurag Kashyap is welcoming of the idea, that can put to rest all the enmity that ensued during the Udta Punjab stalemate, but he has put a tough condition, that may not go down very well with Mr. Nihalani.
“Like all my movies, Nihalani would have to utter desi galis almost every minute, even more than Udta Punjab. I’ve also planned at least a dozen lip lock scenes for him. Even songs produced by Nihalani, such as – ‘Khada Hai, Khada Hai’ and ‘Main Malgadi Tu Dhakka Laga’ would be played in the background for the most part of this movie,” Anurag revealed.
Sanskari Nihalani, who had cut a lip lock scene in the James Bond movie Spectre, citing ‘longer than usual length of the kiss’, is yet to comment on the proposal.
