TV anchors Arnab Goswami and Boria Majumdar were allegedly involved in a heated argument with vegetable vendor Savitri Bai after India lost to Australia by 5 wickets in a One Day International today at Perth.
Eyewitnesses say the argument started right after the match when a furious Boria and Arnab had an animated conversation at the Vasant Vihar Sabzi Mundi, where they vehemently agreed with each that the entire Indian team needed to be sacked. Vegetable Vendor Savitri Bai, after listening patiently, asked them to hurry up and buy their tomatoes instead of “taking too much tension”.
As an agitated Boria went on and on about the need to sack Dhoni and the team, Savitri Bai – A Dhoni fan – could take it no longer and said it was a stupid idea to sack everybody whenever a team lost a cricket match. Mr. Goswami then questioned Savitri Bai’s credibility and said the Nation wanted to know why she was selling rotten tomatoes anyway.
Not to be outdone, Savitri Bai retorted that the nation would first like to know who made Mr. Goswami a TV Anchor in the first place. As Arnab threatened to expose Savitri Bai on The Newshour and commented on her terrible fashion sense, Ms Bai quipped that she could fry all the vegetables in her stall with the amount of oil he applied on his hair.
Boria Majumdar, still fuming, questioned Savitri Bai’s patriotism and credentials as a cricket commentator. Boria said even the BCCI knew cricket better than Ms Bai. An agitated Savitra Bai retorted asking Mr. Majumdar his first class score. Ms. Savitri Bai then swiftly produced a cricket bat from nowhere, forcing Mr. Goswami and Mr. Majumdar to make a hasty exit leaving their tomatoes behind.
“Who cares about Cricket nowadays. Did you see the price of Onions today?” said a distraught S Sreeshant shopping in disguise at a nearby stall.
