Mumbai: In an rare gesture of thanksgiving, BJP Maharashtra unit today decided to distribute free movie tickets of Vivek Oberoi-starrer KLPD (Kismat, Love, Paisa, Dilli) to those who voted for it. Decision was taken unanimously in first high-level meeting after Devendra Fadanavis proved his majority in Maha Assembly with a voice-vote.
“People of Maharashtra helped us get maximum number of seats to root out corruption and inflation in the state. We wanted to thank them for their generosity, and here we are! Our brand new government formed with the help of NCP and MIM will gift them what they truly deserve – KLPD!”, said a visibly excited newly elected chief minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadanvis.
This step by BJP is also being considered as a pay-back to lead actor of the movie Vivek Oberoi who actively supported BJP in elections. His movie was rejected both at the box office and by critics. Now, at least people of Maharashtra will get to watch his movie.
BJP has tied up with all major multiplexes in the state that will run non-stop shows of the movie in December. “Amit Shahji has promised to buy movie tickets of KLPD in bulk and we’re giving them heavy discount so it doesn’t bleed his pockets. I am happy people are finally appreciating the great work I’ve done,” said Sanjay Khanduri, director of this 2012 comedy-thriller.
Partner Opposition Shiv Sena though termed it a sham. “How are they going to decide who voted for them? All Marathi-Manoos voted for us. Are they trying to appease non-Marathis? We’ll never allow this to happen in the land of Shivaji,” thundered Uddhav Thakrey in his mouthpiece ‘Saamana’.
But BJP is not worried about these criticisms at all. Our highly-placed sources tell us, government is considering making KLPD tax-free to non-voters as well, so that ‘the message’ reaches to mass.
We also spoke to NCP boss Sharad Pawar. “People of Maharashtra have always been taken for a ride. We’re happy new government is at least doing something for them”, he told Teekhi Mirchi.
“I think they needed to watch my movie. This is something they would be able to relate to…especially at this point of time,” lead actor of the movie Vivek Oberoi told Teekhi Mirchi.
According to our sources, MNS chief Raj Thakrey whose party won one seat in assembly, has also received one movie ticket of KLPD. At the time of writing this story, he was still not sure why BJP gifted it to him.
