New Delhi: Overwhelmed with the successful “MufflerMan” campaign of AAP volunteers and continuous trending of #MufflerMan hastag on twitter, BJP has decided to launch its own superhero- “MutterMan”. This decision was taken after many senior BJP leaders felt that AAP supporters were successful in projecting common-man Arvind Kejriwal as someone who’s wandering on the streets of Delhi, wearing muffler in chilling cold to woo Delhi voters.
Muffler, according to our insiders in BJP, is considered a symbol connected with “humble background”. “During last Delhi elections, our social media team had circulated a picture of Dr. Harshvardhan peeling peas, projecting him as a common-man of Delhi,” said Delhi BJP leader Vijay Jolly.
“We’re now re-branding Harshu as ‘MutterMan’ to counter this MufflerMan guy. We hope to encash his humble image and get votes in upcoming Delhi elections, wherever that happens,” Mr. Jolly further added.
This fresh strategy by BJP has however opened a fresh battle for CM chair among possible contenders. According to our sources, Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay, whose picture of
littering cleaning Delhi roads became viral, is keen to project himself as either “LitterMan” or “GutterMan”, another symbol associated with ‘common-man’.
This effort by Dr. Satish is considered by insiders as a step to impress PM Narendra Modi who started Clean India campaign this year.
Not many are amused though. Smriti Irani and Meenakshi Lekhi, who are also considered potential CM candidates, were reportedly unhappy with gender-bias in this tussle. “Why this obsession with the word ‘Man’? why not a woman superhero?” rued Delhi BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi.
At the time of writing this news story, supporters of BJP leader Vijay Goel, another CM contender, were found tweeting with hashtag #CryMan on twitter.
